A Taste of Tarot: Justice & Libra
A look at the symbolism of Libra's Tarot Card, Justice
Every zodiac sign is ruled by a Tarot card from the Major Arcana! The zodiac sign of Libra is ruled by the Justice card. Here we take a look at the symbolic connections between Libra and Justice...
Libra's balancing act
Libra is represented by the Scales in Astrology. So, the harmony-seeking duality of Libra is heavily represented in the Justice Tarot card, but what does all of its symbolism mean?
Native Libras have an intuitive desire to maintain balance and harmony in their personal relationships, and are represented by the Scales to show this quest for balance in all things. Libras are quite possibly the most popular sign of the zodiac, because they know how to charm and befriend all the other signs! Not to mention Libra is ruled by Venus, the planet of love and beauty, making this an exceptionally attractive sign.
Even so, Libras are not completely without fault -- they are often accused of painstaking indecision. This is in direct response to their internal scales weighing right vs. wrong before making any decisions. But even with these sporadic bursts of momentary confusion, Libras manage to make decisions with grace once they balance their knowledge with intuition.
The intuition of the Justice card
The judge depicted in the Justice Tarot card radiates charming Libra energy and maintains a diplomatic equilibrium through the scales of karma in her left hand. Coming to any decision, she weighs both her intuition and expertise to balance the karmic laws of the universe.
But where does this intuition come from? The number 11, of course! The number 11 is incredibly intuitive, and is one of only three numbers in Numerology powerful enough to be called a "Master number." Not only is Justice the 11th Tarot card, but the balanced and symmetrical shape of the number 11 is even mimicked in the stone pillars behind Lady Justice.
But just like everyone else, Libra's equilibrium can go off kilter too. She won't stay frazzled for long though. As an official truth-seeking judge, Justice arms herself with a double-edged sword, allowing her to cut through any fog or confusion standing in her way. Even the depiction of the sword is connected to Libra -- Libra is an Air sign, which is connected to the Swords cards in the Tarot. In the Justice card, her sword points upward, signifying victory and restored balance. And, nestled in her crown of authority is a sparkling green gem that acts as a third-eye chakra, allowing her to see simply and clearly what has before been hidden in the shadows of concepts and confusion.
