Relationships are the key issue this month as several astrological factors point to the importance of managing partnerships. The first signal comes from the Full Moon in independent Aries on October 4. Its opposition to the Sun in accommodating Libra represents a struggle between self-interest and compromise. We can easily feel torn between these two, acting as the peacemaker in one situation and the rabble rouser in another. The critical point to a Full Moon or any other planetary opposition is to recognize that there is truth on both sides of the equation. Finding ways to adapt to the needs of others without losing your sense of individuality makes this an opportunity for discovering more about relationships.
Cerebral Mercury, which spent most of September moving backwards, re-enters sociable Libra on October 9, gifting us with objectivity and verbal grace. We may hit a bump the following day when Mercury crosses paths with potent Pluto to revive a buried issue or create a verbal tussle. On October 14 vivacious Venus enters Libra, her airy home sign, to bring more finesse to the ways we connect with each other. Yet even this harmony-loving planet may be disturbed with a tense 90-degree square to Pluto on October 15. It can be difficult to trust others with this pattern, yet it's another chance to bring deep feelings to the surface where they can be addressed openly.
Expansive Jupiter's direct turn on October 12 starts a favorable trend when big plans that have been put on hold slowly start moving forward again. Another joyous jolt of planetary energy comes on October 16 when macho Mars enters bold and outgoing Leo to encourage risk taking, generosity and creative self-expression. The New Moon in Libra on October 18 marks a fresh stage for relationships, supported with faith and spirituality by a harmonious 120-degree trine from divine Neptune.
The Sun dives into emotionally intense Scorpio on October 22, followed by Mercury on October 28. We are now in a period of profound feelings when even small matters can arouse big emotional responses. Scorpio's extremism tends to override the reason we found in airy Libra, yet we mustn't lose sight of this sign's sense of fair play. That's because on October 29 serious Saturn will enter Libra to make its principles of cooperation, compromise and diplomacy more important than ever. Saturn will back into Virgo on April 7, 2010 before finally settling into Libra for a two-year stay on July 21. Saturn is the planet of hard, cold reality. When we work with it, life becomes orderly and productive. When we don't practice its principles, things become more difficult. Saturn in balanced Libra reminds us that we and our enemies are one; that there are two sides to every situation and that communicating with open ears and minds may be essential to keeping personal relationships on track -- and to maintain relative peace and harmony throughout the world.
